Part-Time Potion Master

Location: Rock & Rose Rituals /Conkers Magical Earth Academy, Upton Country Park, Dorset

Hours: Alternate weekends and school holidays (with potential for extra hours during special events)

Pay: £14–£18 per hour depending on experience and training

About the Role

We’re seeking a bright, heart-led Potion Master to join our magical team at Conkers Magical Earth Academy, within the enchanting grounds of Upton Country Park.

This is a truly unique opportunity to teach and inspire children (and sometimes grown-ups!) through our Magic Potion Masterclasses and other creative workshops such as Wand Making, Dragon Egg Crafting, and Fairy Door Making. You’ll also host magical children’s birthday parties, guiding little ones through a world of imagination, creativity, and connection with nature.

We teach children that everything is alive and interconnected, and we ask our team to embody this truth.

Our classes follow the turning of the seasons and the rhythm of nature, so a love for the elements and an openness to seasonal ceremony is part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in Magic Potion Masterclasses and other themed creative workshops.

• Facilitate magical birthday parties with storytelling, crafting, and hands-on activities.

• Create a safe, inclusive, and imaginative environment for children of all backgrounds and abilities.

• Prepare and tidy the creative workshop space before and after each session.

• Share and embody the ethos of Conkers Magical Earth Academy: that nature, creativity, and imagination are gateways to learning and joy.

• Represent the magic and values of Rock & Rose Rituals and Conkers Academy with heart, authenticity, and professionalism.

• Bring your own creative ideas to the cauldron, whether a new potion recipe, seasonal ritual, or story that inspires imagination.

The role includes preparing and tidying creative materials, lifting boxes of ingredients and craft supplies, and so a love of nature and a readiness to get a little messy are essential.

Essential Requirements

• Experience working with children, ideally in a creative, educational, or therapeutic capacity.

• Compassion and understanding for neurodivergent and highly sensitive children.

• A genuine belief in and love for nature, faeries, unicorns, dragons, mermaids and magic.

• A creative, confident, and nurturing energy. We treat every child, woman and man who visit our space as the most important person in the room.

• Reliability, punctuality, clear communication, and self-awareness.

• Ability to work alternate weekends and shifts throughout school holidays. Those of you with children, there is a possibility to bring your children to work with you, as our current Potion Masters do.

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience in teaching, performing arts, childcare, or holistic education.

• Knowledge or interest in nature-based learning, storytelling, or gentle craft facilitation.

• First aid or safeguarding training.

Training

Full training and magical initiation will be provided for the right person. You’ll learn our signature potion recipes, class flow, and child-led teaching methods rooted in love, creativity, and nature.

Our Potion Masters are storytellers, alchemists, and guardians of wonder. You’ll be guiding children not just through crafts but through emotional alchemy, helping them express themselves, feel safe, and remember and nurture their magic.

Safeguarding

All staff working with children must hold (or be willing to obtain) a valid Enhanced DBS check. Basic first aid training and safeguarding awareness are beneficial.
